Sammar Logistics has signed a long-term lease agreement with Fortress Real Estate for a new pre-let development of 37,965m² in Pocket 2A at Clairwood Logistics Park in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The project is underpinned by Sasol South Africa, who identified Clairwood as the ideal location for the consolidation of their warehousing in the Durban South basin.
The project is one of the largest logistics deals to be concluded in the region and is expected to be completed by December 2023. The building will be built to Sasol specifications, including DM1 Floors, 16m height to eaves and good circulation. Sammar has operated from Clairwood for three years and has benefited from the world-class facility, 24-hour security, great access, and the general environment at Clairwood Logistics Park.
Jason Cooper, Head of Property Development for Fortress Logistics, expressed his pride in welcoming Sammar to their logistics portfolio, stating that they tailor a state-of-the-art logistics offering to meet their clients' business and service objectives. Fortress Real Estate has experienced phenomenal uptake of its world-class logistics facilities and continues to deliver the lowest vacancies in the history of its logistics portfolio. Modern and safe logistics parks are in demand, with more clients seeking to have a robust and localized supply chain. A secure and state-of-the-art logistics park in a key location is highly desirable, saving time and mitigating road congestion on smaller less-used routes, thereby saving money and hassle.
